In The News: How Much Do Babies Need To Drink While Breastfeeding?

I love teaching parents and caregivers how lactation and breastfeeding really works. This gives parents the real, informed choice they deserve when making decisions about their baby’s feeding. One tricky area is lactating parents being separated from their baby or needing to give bottles instead of direct nursing for another reason.

We often see babies increasing the size of their bottle feeds week after week, making many lactating parents believe they do not have enough milk. What if I told you that babies take the MAXIMUM breast milk they will ever need by 5-6 weeks old?!? Wild, I know. But true!

Tune in to my latest WISHTV8 Daybreak interview with reporter Lena Pringle for more on this important and often misunderstood topic.
